These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Peaty mobile application ("App"), including all features, AI-powered analysis, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and consented to these Terms.
1.2 Licence
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the App for your personal, non-commercial purposes.
1.3 Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App;
- Resell, sublicence, or commercially exploit the Service;
- Upload content that is unlawful, harmful, or violates any third-party rights;
- Use the App for any automated scraping, data harvesting, or systematic extraction;
- Attempt to circumvent credit or subscription systems.
1.4 Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.
1.5 Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice.
1.6 Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Copyright & Intellectual Property
2.1 Ownership
The Peaty app, including its design, code, graphics, text, scoring algorithms, and all other content, is the sole property of the developer and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable intellectual property laws.

2.2 Ray Peat Reference
References to "Ray Peat" and Ray Peat's nutritional philosophy within the App are made for informational and educational purposes only. Peaty is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Ray Peat or his estate in any way. All references to his research and philosophy are made under fair use for educational commentary.
2.3 AI-Generated Content
Food analysis, Guru responses, and nutritional insights are generated by artificial intelligence models. These outputs do not constitute original creative works owned by the user. You may use AI-generated outputs for personal reference but may not republish or commercially exploit them.
2.4 User Content
Images you upload to the App ("User Content") remain your property. By uploading an image, you grant us a limited, royalty-free licence to process that image solely for the purpose of providing the analysis you requested. We do not store, share, or use your food images for any other purpose.
2.5 Feedback
Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide to us may be used without restriction or compensation to you. We are not obligated to treat such feedback as confidential.
3. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
3.1 Free Credits
New accounts receive a limited number of complimentary AI scans. These free credits are non-transferable and may not be combined with promotional offers.
3.2 Scan Packs (Consumable)
Additional AI scan credits may be purchased as a one-time consumable purchase ("Scan Pack"). Purchased credits do not expire but are tied to your Apple ID and cannot be transferred or refunded once consumed.
3.3 Subscriptions
Peaty offers auto-renewing subscription plans ("Peaty Unlimited") that grant unlimited AI scans for the duration of the subscription period. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
- Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID and the App Store.
- To cancel, go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iOS device.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds are issued.
- Any unused portion of a free trial, if offered, will be forfeited when a subscription is purchased.
3.4 Refunds
All purchases are final and non-refundable except as required by applicable law or as provided by Apple's App Store refund policy. To request a refund, contact Apple directly at reportaproblem.apple.com.
3.5 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will provide reasonable notice of any price changes, and continued use of the subscription following the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new price.

Important: Peaty is a nutritional information tool, not a medical device. Nothing in the App constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
The AI-generated scores, insights, and Guru responses are for informational and educational purposes only. They reflect an interpretation of Ray Peat's publicly available writings and should not be construed as clinical nutritional guidance.
Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet, particularly if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are taking medication.
We make no warranty that the nutritional estimates produced by the App are accurate. Calorie and macronutrient values are approximations based on AI vision analysis and may not reflect actual content.
5. Privacy Policy
Your privacy is important to us. This section explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
5.1 Data We Collect
- Account data: Email address and authentication credentials (managed via Supabase Auth / Apple Sign In).
- Usage data: Scan history, daily scores, and streak data stored in your account to power the App's features.
- Images: Food photos you submit for analysis. Images are transmitted to our AI provider for processing and are not stored after analysis is complete.
- Device data: Basic device identifiers and OS version for crash reporting and analytics.
- Purchase data: Subscription and credit status (managed by Apple; we receive only confirmation of entitlements, not payment details).
5.2 How We Use Your Data
- To authenticate you and maintain your account;
- To perform AI food analysis and return results to you;
- To store your scan history and display stats within the App;
- To manage credits and subscription entitlements;
- To improve the App's performance and fix bugs.
5.3 Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and edge function hosting. Data is stored in Supabase's EU/US infrastructure.
- Google Gemini — AI model used for food image analysis and Guru responses. Images and prompts are transmitted to Google's API per their AI Terms of Service.
- Apple App Store — in-app purchase and subscription management.
5.4 Data Retention
Your account data and scan history are retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us (see Section 6). Food images submitted for analysis are not retained after the analysis response is returned.
5.5 Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, port, or erase your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 6.
5.6 Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such data, we will delete it promptly.
5.7 Security
We implement industry-standard measures (TLS in transit, row-level security in the database) to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5.8 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
